Let's Pray

Praying for Your Community

We would like to see your community transformed.

In The Lord's Prayer we pray "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven". But as I look around communities today I see a lot of people living a very different lifestyle.

I know you care about people coming to faith in Jesus. That is why you are at this website.

I have seen a real change in our community over the past year which I can only attribute to people praying together -- in person, through social media and by phone.

Four Types of Prayer that will Transform your Community

  • Daily 1-on-1 Prayer can raise up a crazy amount of prayer for your community. It is so simple, that you can get started right after watching the video.
  • Prayer Hotline takes a little more time to set up, but is invaluable for transforming critical events.
  • Bartimaeus Prayers have a special place for people who are far from God.
  • Upper Room Gatherings build vision and faith.

Before you go, can we join in prayer?

"Lord Jesus, we pray for our communities. Each of the people in our communities are important to you. You died so that each of them could experience freedom and eternal life. You desire for each of them to be saved.

Now help us to raise up a team of people who will interceed for our communities. People who are willing to put feet on their prayers. People who will work together to glorify you by showing love and care for their neighbours. People who are eager to share how you are transforming their character and blessing their lives.

Show us Lord how you want us to work together so that "your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" grips our lives and the lives of those around us.

We will give you all the praise and glory, because we know that without the work of your Holy Spirit nothing lasting will happen in our communities.

Amen."

How to Set Up a Prayer Network

The first step in setting up a prayer network is making your own personal prayer calendar:

  1. Grab a sheet of paper or open up a Word document.
  2. Number down the side of the paper 1-30.
  3. Write down one person you can pray for beside each number.
  4. On each day of the month that corresponds with that number call/text/email that person and ask how you can pray for them.
  5. Pray with them on the phone, or type out a pray and send it to them.

How to Expand Your Network

After a few months ask each person you have been praying with to start their own prayer calendar. Tell them what you did or forward this page to them. This could give you up to 900 prayer partners.

How to Talk with People on Your Prayer Calendar

After you have completed your prayer calendar, call/text/email the person that matches that day's date. Tell them that they are on your prayer calendar for that day and that you will be praying for them throughout the day. Ask if there is anything specific you can pray for. If you called them, ask if you can pray for them right then. If its an email, email them your prayer.

The purpose of this is not for you to solicit or beg for prayer, but naturally they will ask how they can pray for you. Be specific! You will coach them on how, what, and depth of what to pray for based on what you request for prayer. We encourage people to say 2 to 3 things so that they can remember what they are praying for, which will increase how often you pray for them.

Follow-up! Don't forget to follow-up on how God is answering their prayers. The following month when you call them again, ask them if God has answered their prayers. Most people ask for prayers but never praise God for how He answers!

Prayer Walking

Prayer Walking is based on the example of Joshua 1:3-7; 6:15, 20 where the people of Israel marched around Jericho for seven days before taking action. Many people have reported that their eyes were opened to the needs of their community while prayer walking. Others report that God leads them to “people of peace” who are eager to learn about Jesus during their prayer walks.

We suggest walking through your community with a partner. You may find it best to keep your eyes open while you walk and pray.

  • You can pray while walking or stop at strategic locations and pray in a focused way.
  • Ask God to give you a heart of compassion for the community.
